Downfall of the Sri Lankan Economy

Abstract

The report seeks to find out the reasons for the Sri Lankan Economic Crisis and determine who is to blame for this crisis- the government or any foreign entity. The Sri Lankan economic crisis is a culmination of various factors. This crisis is the best example of how mismanagement has the power to halt a country’s economy and bring it to a stage where recovery is far-fetched. The situation is a result of years of bad policies combined with unforeseen circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic which heavily impacted the tourism-dependent economy of Sri Lanka. This crisis can be the point of study for its neighbour whose economies are in a dire state and can face the same fate as Sri Lanka’s.
